You and Your Values
It is true your values, your beliefs and interpretation of the world around you determine your reality.
To this end if you are not getting your desired result, you must get clear on your values. As a result, this will begin the process of modifying your beliefs. In turn, your beliefs drive your behavior and create your reality.
This is why conventional advice tells us to visualize positive situations, to maintain a positive outlook and play the win in our minds.
We are going to start making informed and grounded decisions. While these decisions drive purposeful action, they will also help you build your desired reality. Because the foundation of this is values, we start with your values.
What Are Your Values?
If you have not already, take Our Survey Here. After, once you have your results, you can follow the email link back here.
Why Do Your Values Matter?
Values are deep drivers which are operating in the background of our lives. In our subconscious. Values are linked to our needs.
Though values are universal, they arise from the fundamental human experience. Your values are based on what is deeply important to you as an individual.
Understanding your values and the drivers behind your motivation can help you in your personal relationships, in succeeding at work and in giving you a feeling of alignment in your life.
For these reasons I refer to values as a foundation and filter. This foundation and filter can be a guide for you in goal setting and making important decisions in your life.
Furthermore, you want to be standing on a solid foundation in your life. This solid foundation will help you survive and thrive through anything.
In fact, designing your personal vision and setting personal goals aligned with your values will increase your feeling of purpose. Accordingly, increasing your sense of satisfaction.
Most importantly you are finding your path in life.
Your Values Results Explained
Your survey results provided images with a letter on the top left corner of each image. The letters represent:
A = Achievement Oriented Things you strive to achieve, earn, or accomplish.
I = Intrinsic Motivation Things you experience internally or within yourself.
E = Extrinsic Motivation Things external to you that you value or that contribute to your sense of significance.
R = Relationship Oriented Facets of relationships and/or interactions with other people.
What Is Motivation?
It is the reason (or reasons) which lead you, an individual, to act in a certain way. Specific motivations drive every action you take.
Types of Motivation: Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic Motivation
The act of being motivated by internal factors to perform specific behaviours and actions.
There is neither external pressure or reward for the actions and behaviours you perform due to intrinsic motivation.
Intrinsic motivation is long lasting and often leads to higher levels of success.
Intrinsic motivation is the internal drive that motivates an individual. An individual with strong intrinsic motivation behaves and acts to achieve an internal reward.
These individuals follow an internal compass.
Example: I come to work every day because I love what I do.
Extrinsic Motivation
The act of being motivated to perform certain behaviours and actions because external factors affect the individual.
External factors may be rewards or punishment and certain short- and long-term consequences.
Extrinsic motivation is short duration motivation. The motivation often ceases to exist once the reward or threat of punishment is removed.
Example: I came to work today for the overtime pay.
You may have a mix of motivational types at play in their life at any given time. Both motivation types can help an individual achieve their goals.
What Does This All Mean?
Living as Your True Best Self means developing an understanding of your motivation and alignment with it. Further, it means standing on a solid foundation knowing your worth and your drivers. Lastly, it means having a clear vision to your desired future. Despite the state of the world around you.
Employers want to know and understand your motivation and values. For this reason, employers often include value-based questions in pre-screening and interviews. Primarily done to allow the employer to pinpoint your underlying values, stressors, motivations, and priorities. Specifically a strong tool to screen job candidates.
As an illustration, in my career I used the values assessment in hundreds of interviews with job candidates. How did I use it? Knowing what makes a person tick helped me to:
- Select the right candidates
- Tailor the work experience to the individual to increase engagement and motivation at work
- Understand how a potential job candidate would connect with the workplace culture
- Understand how a potential job candidate would fit with an existing team
- Lead others to be accountable and engaged
Consequently, I point this out to highlight the importance of knowing what makes you tick, for yourself.
If it matters to employers, it should matter to you.
Back to What Is Important Here, You.
In our work and careers extreme discomfort and dissatisfaction are felt when we experience a values mismatch with our employer.
Other Ways You Might Use This Tool:
What Are the Values at My Work?
To answer this consider returning to the survey and complete it with a focus on your workplace. My workplace values…
In order that we keep the results from this work survey, separate from your personal results we suggest you add work after your name when you complete the submission form.
Naturally, an important note on work. A values mismatch between your personal values and the values espoused at work does not necessarily mean you must quit your job.
It can mean that you need to obtain the right role for you within that work environment. Look around to see if a shift in role is possible.
If this work is important to you for other reasons a shift in perspective can help an individual cope. While coping, focus on clarifying your vision and goals to work toward a more meaningful change.

How Do I Know My Partners Values?

Identifying your values and your partners values is a crucial step to having a conversation to understand what these specific values mean to the individuals involved.
This can deepen and improve your relationship if approached with an open mind and open communication.
Your Values and The Deal Breaker
In the survey we asked you to first select one card representing Your Deal Breaker. A Deal Breaker is a quality which must be present in your life and/or relationships. Your basic conditions which must be present.
To this end, we raise your deal breaker for your awareness and contemplation. Undoubtedly there will be future discussion on this topic.
Next Steps…
Foundationally we must be aware of our drivers. First our values, our beliefs drive our thoughts.
Accordingly, our thoughts drive our feelings.
Critically, our feelings drive behaviour.
This when combined creates our experience and reality in life.
Primarily we had this discussion to raise your awareness of these things. Give it time to sink in and take effect in your life. While you do this take the time to listen to our best meditation, stream for free Your Path Chakra Healing and Activation Meditation .
And yet values shift and change as we develop and grow as humans. Having awareness of these inner drivers can be critical for making life decisions.
Because of this we would like you return at any time to use this tool again.
