The Oak Tree always knew it was an Oak Tree. This is nature and natural.
As humans we have this problem of modern thought and analytics. We have abundance of data and so many choices that trivial tasks such as selecting which brand of coffee to buy becomes difficult. When people have creative ideas and new thoughts, we say prove it.
The prominence of thought and knowing the right answer has driven us to a place where we no longer know what we are.
We search for this answer, we attempt to buy these answers. We seek medical attention to alleviate the DIS ease that is created within us from the negative feelings. Feelings of being something we are not.
We also complicate things extensively with judgement and seeking approval from external sources.
We want to please our parents. Indeed, we want to be accepted by our friends and coworkers. And, we want to please our boss and now more than ever we want (validation) from our social networks.
In fact, we often aspire to be someone and something else.
We Have Possibly Lost Our Way
In Nature, it does not matter what nasty words you speak to an oak tree, it knows it is an Oak. No one can pass judgement on it and shake it in its core to make that Oak Tree want to be anything else. It spreads its roots deep in the earth as it expands its branches to the sky and becomes a thing of wonder. All that Oak Tree has to do is be, and when we take the time, we look at these trees in awe with respect for their strength and size and unique beauty we can see that it could not be any less beautiful or perfect. Wisdom engrained.
As people, we are influenced by words of strangers, by television and social media. We are taught things through curriculum and organizations that influence our thoughts and feelings.
Ever more frequently these interactions are negative and have an impact on us. In addition, this impact creates strong feelings within us. And,those feelings that we can not let go of, drive behavior.
This results in changes in our lives. And we may not have known that the nasty words that boss said to us affected our choices and brought us to a reality that is not the reality we desired.
Somewhere inside you, there is that inspiration of who you are and what your gifts are. With all these external influences now you may have forgotten, or lost sight of self.
You may have been taught that success means a certain degree and a certain salary then a home in a certain neighborhood and a certain number of children and those children should be genius lawyers.
What does your heart tell you? Better yet, what does your intuition tell you? When you hear what your intuition tells you, can you feel it in your heart?
This Is You
It is possible you are not in touch with your intuition and heart. Our world brings us to this state that disconnects us from our true potential. I know you can feel that, you can feel when forcing yourself to do that 9 to 5 job again today took all your energy. Watching our world this year we can all feel that there must be a better way.
How can you find your way? Start today. Go sit beside an oak tree and watch it; or lean your back against it and feel it move. Listen to the wind bristle through its autumn leaves and pay attention to the thoughts and feelings you have while you do this. Repeat tomorrow. Then continue to find little clues and opportunities to repeat things that make you feel good. Invest time with people who make you feel good. Repeat the next day. Pay attention to the birds and wildlife that stop to see what you are doing. Unlike people they are not judging you, they are not full of expectation. You may appear to be at peace for a change.
Who Are You and What Is Your Purpose?
This answer is within you and your search is learning about yourself and finding those answers and stories within and becoming the best possible version of you. As you get clear on this, all you need to do is act your part in the world, put that best version of you out there to have the best possible impact you can have. Pay attention to your feelings and hang on to those actions, people and events that drive positive emotion within you.
Learning about oneself and finding our purpose is a journey. Understanding this might not happen overnight and your purpose could shift as you grow.
Turn off and remove the things that drive negative emotion within you.
With time you will have created a much better future for yourself.
Why am I talking about purpose again? Because now is the best time to step back, get to know yourself and plan your steps into a new future.
Be the hero in your own movie, just like the Oak.
