I had a moment of spontaneous inspiration to get myself out there. By this I mean getting out in public and spending time with people, meeting people, being social. Dating.
In fact I recently travelled across the country, a personal trip. When working I would often travel back and forth like this multiple times in a week and still put in hours in the office.
Yes, that means redeyes. The flights and the thing.
My life has been calm and quiet for three months. Unlike the previous 2 years.
Indeed, I decided to try Bumble.
I Gathered Insight To Share
Bumble is known as the feminist dating app; in this app the female has to make the first move. Most Bumble users are relationship people, looking for something long-term but they also have social networking to meet friends and network with people. All good opportunities, I have not used dating apps and the tinder type environment would not work for me personally.
What has the experience been like? Quite amazing actually, there are amazing people out there! The dating environment is quite different from province to province and there are so many people hiding away; it would take a miracle to connect with these people by chance in public.
To tell the truth that may be what I want. The miracle. It seems more romantic.
I Noticed Patterns In Dating Profiles.
Obvious ones, women are tired of being catfished and ghosted. They point this out in profiles.
Consequently, a not so obvious pattern, the use of power words in profiles. Now this observation is not a broad generalization. Use of power words is concentrated in major cities and airports.
In fact I began to notice the use, and overuse, of power words in these profiles. The ones that were standing out to me fit in two categories. Greed words and lust words.

Words aren’t just strings of alphabets sewn together with ink. Words are cues. Words are triggers. Words when used correctly can transform a “whatever” into “Wow that’s it!
Believe me I kept this list PG; I left many enticing words out.
Actually there were profiles I ran across that really made me stop and think. In this example below I cannot quite figure out exactly how this profile is making a connection for people. Happen to see something I do not?

Although the invoke emotion and may drive a move or conversation, this felt off and became a funny to me.
Are they all using google headlines to create dating profiles? It is more likely that individuals are referring to the same articles and advice columns on how to attract the right person.
Now before you start to think I am having a terrible experience there with no matches we will stop it. I am quite fortunate that I do not have a tough time making matches or meeting face-to-face. For the record I am a traditional and slow-moving person, there are no games played on my part.
I have had very entertaining interactions; one woman went out of her way to call me a “slut” five times in a 30-minute messaging interaction. She also had checked out the dating status of both of my brothers in this time. She was entertaining, but no date there. Thank you very much…
Or There Is a Larger Issue in Dating?
Something about the behaviour on the internet is different. Absolutely different than behaviour in real life, face-to-face interaction.
What did I conclude? Well, this is all great for the ego. Matches, chat, pictures, compliments.
Actually is it is my soul that is looking for a match.
Dating apps are great entertainment. For me I will stick to the old-fashioned ways of meeting people and potential love interests. It is more difficult and takes courage.
There are also amazing women with very genuine profiles on the app. Those are the ones I am looking for.
Nonetheless I personally recommend Bumble and if you will catfish or ghost anyone do not join.
Get out there. Be yourself. Use your words.
