I believe we are living through a global leadership crisis. Leaders are failing in many areas of politics, policy makers, corporations, in world organizations and even in organized religion.
These leaders in positions of power have made decisions that created the environment that we exist in today.
We have lived through a slow transition from leadership based on shared values and a strong moral compass to leadership based on self-promotion, greed and ego.
This Is The World We See Around Us
Imbalanced, unjust and in some cases immoral.
I had an employee in my office today, the employee was venting, everyone is under a lot of stress right now and I always create room for people to speak openly in my office. He talked about a lot things like secrets about what changes are coming, his wife being laid off from the bank she worked for, how that bank had shifted over a year ago to a new focus that was not the customer but on selling and upselling product. He mentioned something that fits with this idea we are discussing now. Out of the blue he said things in the world seemed to go sideways very quickly, like in the last 45 years.
I told him about my idea of it being a leadership crisis and 45 years ago there were still strong leaders who made decisions based on their values and moral compass. I commented that I think 45 years ago is about the time that the last of these people began leaving positions of power and now we are seeing the result of actions from the generation of leaders who followed them. We need to bring good people into positions of power or better yet, distribute power.
There Is A Significant Shift
We are moving through where the individuals in places of power lack knowledge and the people with knowledge have had no power.
This creates opportunity for change as people speak up for their rights, take their freedoms back and learn the truth of our environment.
This matters because people will awaken to the possibility that we can create a new and better future! And, the power to do this is within each of us.
When people are controlled by others in positions of power it can lead them to an inability to make decisions on their own.
When a power shift occurs and controlling individuals are removed from power there will be a period of adjustment while others recognize a loss of direction. It will take a period of time for leaders to show up and take initiative for themselves and for others.
Do not wait for someone to determine what your new normal will be. Take steps today to evaluate what you want to keep in your life and what you choose to change going forward.
Maybe that corporate job that enslaves you must end so you can focus on your gifts and talents. Maybe that book you have put off writing must be written, or priorities must shift so you can invest the time in your children that you have always wished you could invest.
I am not suggesting you just quit a job today or move around the world to be with the loved ones you miss. I am suggesting you become aware of the facts and changes around you and start to develop a vision for your future and a plan to get there.
If you know inside, you are meant to make a difference in the lives of others; there is no time like the present to build on your confidence and skills to take that step out into doing what you are meant to do.
Start With Creating Your Vision
Then, plan.
