Many people are driven by the desire to be rich, or a desire for fame. Currently there is a lot of attention being drawn to wealth and the Top 1%. Additionally, I see a lot of people who want to join this group.
Media is having a wonderful time pushing headlines on how much more these top 1% have than the rest. Some of this is misinformation but it is all trending and selling.
Those topics do not appeal to me.
It Does Not Speak To My Soul
I do promote achievement of wealth, and I do not define wealth as a dollar figure.
Wealth is a much broader term that encompasses happiness, alignment with purpose, healthy relationships, family and longevity.
These items that I include in my definition of wealth speak to my values. Those things I value most in life.
You have your own values; we are unique individuals and we all have stories behind many of these values. I will not judge you for your purpose and what drives you.
Do I want to be in the top 1% of earners?
I have been there, and I would trade it for any of the items above that fit into my definition of wealth. I ride on the edge of the top 1%, it is a moving target and for me an empty pursuit. If you are within the top earners there is a broad range within that group and a wide variety of experiences within that group just as there is a wide variety of experiences in any earnings profile.
The Pursuit Should Be Financial Freedom
I suggest the pursuit is not achievement of being in the top 1% of earners. I believe the pursuit is freedom. Financial Freedom.
The dollar figure does not matter as much as having the freedom to choose what I do every day and the freedom to direct my money in a way that aligns with my values.
If you take a high-income earner who is in the top 1% financially working for a company that controls them, they may be the most miserable people you can meet. I know them and have worked along side them.
And I have been grateful for my alignment with my values. It is not about money for me.
Money is important. Money is a tool and a very effective tool in this world that we live in. We all require access to money and having money creates options and leads to experiences in life. Remember, make choices that create options.
Having wealth includes having a healthy relationship with money. Having wealth means that no matter what your bank account balance is you have self respect and good relationships around you.
Having a net worth that puts you in the top 1% will not bring you self respect or good relationships.
It will not make you a different person than you are today.
I will to do what I can to help everyone achieve financial freedom and for this we must have earnings and money. To be really good at being wealthy we also need a higher purpose and a focus on that purpose. A vision for where we are headed and how the tools you carry will help you deliver on your purpose.
If your goal is to be in the top 1% of earners and the top 1% of net worth individuals, I can help you get there. The guidance I provide will outline principles and steps to lead you down that path. When you come to me after and complain that you are not happy, and you will, you will find I have nothing more to give you. Again, I will not judge.
I am interested in working with the 99% of earners and the 99% of net worth individuals. The people who have an idea of their higher purpose and just need some guidance on how to build the foundation around them to live that purpose.
I plan to share my success and failings so that you might take the pieces that fit for you and improve on them and pass them on to someone else.
Learning never ends and I know I have plenty of opportunity for growth ahead of me, I welcome that.
To the 99%:
The world suggests that we drive to be in the top 1% of earners and the top 1% of net worth individuals.
What purpose will that tool help you deliver and why do you want to be there?
What is your vision?
Is The Top 1% For Me?
My Purpose is to lead, to share knowledge and leave this place better than when I came.
I am driven to do this because I value family and want families to have a better future on this planet for generations to come. That future includes freedom and health and that means I must help break many of the walls that society has build around us today. I choose to build generational wealth so that others can choose not to sell their time.
When I am really, really old I plan to sit in a large leather chair next to a fire surrounded by good books I collected in my travels looking out the window past the mountains toward the ocean knowing that I did what I needed to in this human experience while openly inviting what comes next with a full and light heart.
Money is only the tool that will help me get there and I value it for that purpose.
The percentage does not matter.
Enough will be enough.
